19:02 – Meeting called to order, Det. Commandant David Foy. Colors salute and Pledge of Allegiance, followed by Marines Hymn led by Sgt-at-Arms. Chaps provided the opening prayer and a blessing. Acting Adjutant made staff roll-call and determined “All present” (minus the J/A and Pay-Master) with 19 total members in attendance.

19:11 – Chaplain’s Report

Prayer requests were solicited by Chaplain, including remembrance for deceased members & family, several currently battling illness, and members’ families now serving in Armed Forces. Recognition for current active duty family of members: Max Singleton, Chris Foy, and Sullivan Brooks.

New Business:
* Discussion for finding new venue. Loco’s, AmVets, the Plantation, etc….consensus was go with 2nd Monday of each month at Loco’s (east side) at 19:00, uness Akademia can provide some alternative that allows Det to hear ourselves while conducting monthly meetings.
Good of the League:
* Chief Brock – MOH certificate for SgtMajor Canley , Vietnam …while serving Company Gunnery Sergeant, GySgt Canley assumed command while the company commander was incapacitated. Forced the enemy to withdraw, and carried wounded and casualties to safety. SgtMaj was the first living black Marine to be awarded the Medal of Honor, and passed away 11 May 2022.. Good moto.

19:42 – Meeting adjourned by Det. 1083 Commandant, and the colors retired.
19:43 – Sgt at Arms dismissed the Det. Next meeting Monday 12 February 2024 or Tuesday 13 February 2024, TBD depending upon location.
